Re-read this after several years and was pleasantly surprised to find it still as good as the first time. Even if one or two jokes aged poorly this is one hell of a book, made me laugh in publicand kick my legs like a teen in public. Successful throwback.

I had some major problems with this book. This is the lowest rating I’ve ever rated a book, which says a lot. Firstly, I feel like the author tried too hard making “diverse” characters. I’m perfectly fine with some unique characters and representation, but the author wrote it in a way that she only made those characters for the diversity, and those characters don’t actually affect the plot much. Secondly, I feel like the pacing wasn’t great, like it was super slow at times, but was also too fast at others. Thirdly, and the main reason why I disliked this book is because THE ENDING!! I am SO upset that Jase and Clary are literal SIBLINGS?!?? THEY LITERALLY KISSED EW EW EW THAT IS SO GROSS WHY CASSANDRA CLARE WOULD YOU DO THAT THEY WERE ACTUALLY KINDA GOOD TOGETHER!!! 🤮 a spoiler for other books even tho I didn’t read those (AND WONT) I know that they actually aren’t siblings since I saw someone else’s review, but I also saw that they still liked eachother while they THOUGHT THEY WERE SIBLINGS WHICH AGAIN IS EXTREMELY GROSS AND WEIRD LIKE UGHH WHO LIKES TO READ ABOUT THAT!??! Yeah let’s just say that really affected my reading experience. Buuuuuuut, I wasn’t bored with most of it, I was still somewhat hooked, which is why I didn’t rate it 2 or 1 stars.

It was okay, it wasn't great in my opinion, I didn't like that Cassandra make them kiss and then tell us that they are SIBLINGS, and even after that she told us that clary keep thinking him a little bit in a romantic way. And I felt like that revelation was so out of nowhere, maybe it was just me but I feel like it was just for the shock. I also felt so gross with the Magnus insinuation with Alec, like he is a grown ass men and alec is a teenager
Even after that, it wasn't so bad, I didn't got attached with any of the characters but I like the universe that she created.
It wasn't memorable but it was nice for kill time.
