It is said that you are cursed to become a monster if an outsider touches you. When teacher walks in and sees a strange new outsider in Shivas room, touching her cheek with its black clawed hand, he races to protect her from being cursed.
However. The stranger provides new information to teacher about the true origins of the curse, it does not spread from the outsiders, they were the ones cursed by the inside kingdom when they were forced out of their walls into the wilderness and their souls were stolen. Hence why they were drawn to Shiva, as the young girl had a pure soul still remaining. They also mention their task of bringing souls back to their “mother,” a mysterious force at the bottom of a lake.
As teacher ponders these mysteries and tried to find a way to break the curse on Shiva before her symptoms start to show, we find Shiva’s aunt in the forest who originally abandoned her to the outside but now has come to bring her back inside. Can we trust the aunt with Shiva or is she being used as bait to lure the girl from the outside back into the walled Inside kingdom for a more sinister reason.
Loved seeing the continuation of this story and can’t wait for the third volume.

Not as much action as the first but I still enjoyed. I wish the drawings weren’t quite so dark though!
