I love Cap's cooky quartet so much! I love Hawkeye. Hate swordsman.

I online-borrowed from the library and didn't read all 10 issues through, but it was fun to skip through and see the origins of the phenomenally-produced Marvel films, in all their 60's-era-youthfully-idealistic fantasy. Many parallels to the films, including: Captain America's awakening from suspended animation (they used that term) in ice, his grief over his friend Bucky, and his joining of the Avengers. The waywardness of the Hulk. Iron Man's transistor-based tech! Battles with Loki, Zemo, and others. And occasional battles with each other.

Trivia: Which character (who is featured in the Marvel cinematic universe too) came up with the name Avengers? You'll never guess. :) (Scroll down for answer.)

Enjoyed this collection of the first ten issues of The Avengers for the iconic moments, especially the revival of Captain America, and the artwork of Jack Kirby. And if the storytelling seemed a bit juvenile and masculine, pre-adolescent males were the primary target audience.

Nostalgic slice of Silver Age comics that missed a dash of the Jack Kirby artwork that made the first volume of this series so enjoyable. Also the dated and shallow characterizations of the female characters, particularly the continual swooning The Wasp demonstrates over seemingly every male character she encounters, was a bit cringe worthy. Entertaining enough for me that I have queued up the third volume in this series to read over the coming weeks.

My placeholder for the first 100 issues of The Avengers, and I'm glad I've read how witty and profound Stan Lee can be with these guys. Also the early inceptions of the MCU superheroes we know today aren't bad at all. Imagine a DD-BP team up?
