This was a very thought provoking discussion of gender. I thought the comic was an interesting concept of delivering what the author learning during their interviews. I had hoped I'd learn a bit more. But when you consider the ever changing vocabulary with gender, it's not a bad thing that this graphic novel would leave me with more questions.

This is nuance and diligence and curiosity. "Fine" gave space to the questions and thoughts I've resented in my own head and gave access to a conversation. Thank you thank you thank you Rhea for making this conversation public and for adding yourself in too. We may not have answers, but we we do have connection 💓

A diverse, documentary-style distillation of 56 interviews the author conducted over a decade about gender and identity in the American Midwest.

Overall I thought this collection was thought provoking and occasionally illuminating, in thinking through how I agreed or disagreed with the various perspectives presented. The last two sections are particularly strong. However, I felt that the abrupt narrative shifts (choosing to quickly skip between many different interviews without giving context on the speaker's identity) left the collection as a whole feeling a bit disjointed.

If you like this book, or the idea of this book, I highly recommend the Gender Reveal podcast!

Good read. Mostly just validating and relatable content but found some points to look into more.

I found it a bit hard to get into this book, just because I myself had so many similar experiences that for large chunks of the book, I didn’t feel that I was learning anything. Once I got into it, though, I was able to get through it. Very nice, a bit denser of a read than I was expecting for a graphic novel, but it was nice.

I really didn't know what to expect when I heard about a graphic novel about gender. What I found throughout the book was a truly empathetic and introspective author who worked really hard to share their interviewees' stories truthfully and kindly. I loved the art design, from panels that make you feel like you're there to panels with feelings/emotions/swirling thoughts drawn in as almost a cloak around a character. Rhea Ewing is a very talented artist and storyteller who was gracious enough to take us on their decade-long project from interview to completed book. I'm definitely recommending this to friends of all genders.
