For some reason I postponed reading this book for a while even though it was sitting my queue - I don't know why I did, but I sure am happy that I got around to reading it. In short, this is an excellent story, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes space opera scifi!

The character development and progression is what really makes this novel shine. There was a depth and growth seen here that is a rare find in modern scifi writing. As the story progressed, each character matured (even secondary and support characters - color me impressed!) while still holding true to their main attributes. The author did not warp the characters to fit the storyline at all, instead slowing crafting them and sing their actions to drive the plot. The main character, Alex, was exceptionally written, and by the end, he was well shaped in preparation for the second installment of this series.

I also commend the author's choice in world building. It was kept to a minimum due to the way the world and species history was set up (easily understandable compared to our world), and this I believe is what freed up time and effort for developing such wonderful and engaging characters.

I am not a person who gives 5 stars lightly, but this book earned it. I am looking forward with great anticipation to the next book, and hope that the author continues with the fine trends he has started!

A fun beginning to a simple but enjoyable space opera

The silver ships has a positively fun plot and likable characters. There aren’t a lot of sneaky subplots that suck the joy out of the protagonist’s plans and the situations are difficult but not so overwhelming that it takes all of the enjoyment away from the story.

THAT SAID, I have to give it four stars rather than five due to the incredibly pacifist future that Mr. Jucha has imagined. As well as some inconsistencies regarding humans supposed pacificity and the murder that was committed at one point.

The science isn’t particularly “hard science-fiction” either but that isn’t a big issue. It is a big relief to find a Kindle Unlimited author that isn’t critically flawed right now, as I’ve been through a lot of authors recently that have left me wanting.

I am excited to continue the series and hopeful that it will be rewarding as I read on! I give this a SOLID four stars

Enjoyed this interesting space opera. I think Julien is my favorite character, how can you not love a Self-aware digital entity.

I loved the book and can't wait for the rest of the series. It joins the list of my favorite in this space genre... I have grown to love Admiral Racine and look forward to his adventures. He will be one of those characters, like Honor Harrington (David Weber), Miles Vorkosigan (Lois McMaster Bujold), Lt. Leary & Mundy (David Drake) and other heroes found in good stories.

Seems like a good start to the series. It had a lot of world building. So far it follows common themes with this type of story, but I've heard really good things. I like the story so far, so I'll stick with it.
