Thought this was a bit more monotonously procedural than the first book, that the ending was a bit unsatisfying and that Ripley was a little less measured and methodical in his decisions and risk taking. Kind of like how his character has developed, and he’s still one of the most interesting sociopaths I’ve come across in literature.

Patricia Highsmith has some Stephen King levels of being able to get into a murderer’s mind. She’s my favorite author pre-1990s and I can’t wait to finish the Ripley series!
