**********Contains Spoilers**********

I’ve been a fan of RJ Scott’s since I was recommended one of her books through Amazon back in 2020, and have read pretty much all her books but I’ve never gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I’ve decided to re-read all her books again that are currently sitting in my Kindle Library so I can review them, including this book. I enjoyed this book and thought that Garrett and Jason were great together, the s*xual tension and chemistry was off the charts, as well as hot as hell.

Just like Garrett I enjoyed seeing snippets of Jason’s sense of humour poke through on the very odd occasion. Garrett is and out and proud hockey player for a fictional NHL team the Burlington Dragons, he’s got a stalker and he’s not happy that the Dragon’s Organisation have hired him a bodyguard. He’s not happy at all about having a bodyguard for most of the book. Yes, he has a right to hate having his life disrupted by having a bodyguard follow him, but he takes his anger out of Jason which he doesn’t deserve at all.

Garrett is also acting stupid considering how many times Jason has told him what could happen to him, like a sn*per on the roof etc. I think a lot Garrett’s anger at Jason is because he infuriates him, most likely because Garrett finds himself attracted to the man which is most likely messing with his head, as well as Jason being all up in his grill and telling him all the possible ways someone can hurt him, so Garrett is scared of his shadow. I would’ve liked seeing Garrett’s stalker caught, as well as the person responsible for hiring the thug, instead of just being told that the people/persons’ responsible have been caught, and the reason behind everything.

I liked meeting Kyle, who Garrett considers a brother/best friend, as he billeted with Kyle’s family when he was 15 years old. He’s considered them family since then. He loves Kyle, Mama P (Kyle’s mum) and Bobby (Kyle’s brother). I’m looking forward to reading more books from this series, as all of Garrett’s WhatsApp Chat Group of Gay Hockey Players find their happily ever afters. I’m also looking forward to reading more books from RJ Scott. I’d definitely recommend this book and author to everyone.

From the moment they kissed, it went way too fast that I couldn't believe in their connection. It was like a slow build I was liking and then all of a sudden they were kissing and it was too soon and then it escalated quickly.

*** 2.5 Stars ***

The pacing of this novella felt off. There was barely a romantic blip for the first 50% of the story, then a few off-hand comments or moments, and then POW! all of a sudden our MCs are in love and plotting out a life together - complete with 2.5 kids, a dog, and a picket fence.

Hot hockey player + hot bodyguard is always going to be a win for me! (The cover is perfect for the description of Garrett). This is a quick sweet-ish read. I wish it had been dual POV because I really wanted to be in Jason’s head. I also would have liked it to be a little longer so we could have had more time with them together – maybe even witnessed their first real date! And with the tease of the family Christmas hockey game, how could we not have seen Jason take Garrett home for Christmas and shock his family with a new teammate??

I do like them together. Garrett’s fun-loving, playful personality is the perfect balance to Jason’s intense, serious one. Their attraction was obvious even without knowing what was going on in Jason’s head. He was overly protective of Garrett and more invested than an unbiased, uncaring bodyguard would have been.

Kyle – Garrett’s best friend – has a book in this series (not really a series) and I’m going to read that one next! I love the concept of this series, especially now that we’re not getting to watch my favorite sport!

Loved it from start to finish! It's a great quick story that has everything- hockey, a stalker and two hot men who are perfect for each other. Great twist on the stalker part. I adored the grumpy Garrett and the every so stoic Jason.

This is one of the novellas where the balance isn't right for me, because I really like external plot, and that happens largely offpage. Also, there were some really fast emotional turns (again, something that happens in novella pacing) that didn't gel for me.

I really enjoyed this, but I am a huge sucker for hockey M/M stories.
Garrett is receiving death threats and his team decides to hire a bodyguard for him. He is really not happy with the idea, especially since he is really attracted to his bodyguard. Jason and Garrett work together really well and their connection gradually builds. Once it built, though, they went quickly to madly in love. This had no angst of the relationship variety (which made me happy). I kind of guessed the culprit behind all the threats early on, but it was still intriguing enough where I didn’t guess all of the details. This was really enjoyable. Garrett and Jason were adorable together.
