For the most part of the book, this would've been a 3 stars. It was absolute complete average, nothing that would stay with me for long. There was a big focus on Nic's relationship with Tyler that I could've done well without - I probably was supposed to care about it, but Tyler was such a boring and annoying character that I just didn't care. The unique way Miranda told the story - starting from Day 15 and going back to Day 1 - didn't really work for me. I kept forgetting what was going to happen in later days.
But then the plot twist came in, and it honestly ruined the story for me, which was only exacerbated by the reverse storytelling. I don't mind unlikeable characters, but Nic's actions on Day 2 or 3 made her future ones just worse and more inexplicable.

This did not quite live up to some of MM’s other books. I thought the mystery premise was interesting, but I didn’t like the structure of the book being told backwards. It made the gathering of information confusing, and if you thought about the events of day 13-14 by the time you got to day 1-2, the characters’ actions and reactions didn’t make a ton of sense. I did enjoy the mystery overall — it kept me engaged until the end and I sped through to find out what happened. However,

as much as I can appreciate an unreliable narrator, I don’t think that really landed here. Nic seemed genuinely clueless, not like she was suppressing something or remembered things about that night.

I could’ve done with a teeny bit more foreshadowing to make the resolution make sense, especially with as much of Nic’s inner dialogue as we got.
Side note: I also didn’t like the multiple assertions that women drive men to commit crimes… yikes
