I have mixed feelings about Alistair.
I can't decide how I feel about Alistair. Grace and Mr. McIntyre were right when they told us - and Amy and Dan - not to trust anyone. He is very confusing. We see he wants to help the kids and somehow feels it is his right to do so, but on the other hand he seems to betray them when it suits him and doesn't feel indebted to them.
Ian is hard to read. We know as a Lucian it is in his nature to be sneaky, but he is such a good actor, I understand why Amy fell for him. He does portray himself like he cares.
I just can't believe that Amy and Dan end up being duped by them. I am glad they still have Nellie, though. She is their rock.

This wasn't as good as the first book, I have to say. Maybe it's my bias for Rick Riordan speaking, but this one wasn't as well written as others. Sure, it had its exciting moments and it had funny ones too, it's just that I didn't connect with it. Much as the first ones. That being said, I did enjoy reading it enough to buy it, so I wouldn't necessarily not recommend it. [Quick side note: Um, was no one else a bit concerned about the slightly incestuous love interest between Amy and Isn, or was that just me? Okay, just me...] All in all, not my favourite but not my most hated book either. If you've read the first too, you might as well read on!
