Whitney and Derek met when he was her mentor. He’s ten years older than her and she had the biggest crush on him but he didn’t know. Fast forward 8 years and he’s back and her feelings are all over the place. She’s still harboring the “rejection” from years ago that he obviously wasn’t aware of. Now he sees her as s as n adult and is clearly interested but she plays hard to get, lol. Lots of funny moments and also sad moments. Derek helps her with her relationship with her parents. Derek’s grandfather always liked Whitney and kind of had his hand in bringing them together. Their relationship wasn’t easy but Derek got his princess and never let go.

I loved the humor in this book. The banter is witty and Whitney’s internal dialogue is very funny. I also enjoyed the behind the scenes look at a theme park—someone either worked at DisneyWorld or did a lot of research. It was a cute, funny book and I really enjoyed it. It was my first book by R S Grey but it won’t be my last.

“So spoiled. His Royal Highness always gets what he wants.”
He winks. “You’re right, and I want you.” His gaze drops to my mouth before he gives me a quick chaste kiss. “Always.”

I enjoyed this book and its characters so much! I could barely put it down, it was so cute!!

3.5 stelle!

Note: An ARC was provided by the author.

This was such a fun read, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both Whitney and Derek as they made their way towards their happy ending. Readers get a glimpse of their past and it's not your typical sort of romantic past either. Let's just say that they clearly had a connection eight years prior, but with the ten-year age difference and where they were at that particular point in their respective lives, and it was almost as if it was a case of wrong timing. Kudos to Whitney for not immediately falling back on her long-held feelings for Derek. I'm not saying that she made him work for a shot with her, but I think that being cautious isn't necessarily a bad thing. These two needed to figure out if they really wanted to pursue something romantic with each other and just how invested they would be. I also want to note that there were a number of side characters were standouts, but the one who takes top prize was none other than Cal Knightley, Derek's grandfather and someone Whitney was quite close to. Every time the man appeared in the book, he brought a smile to my face and made me think of my late maternal grandfather. A mostly lighthearted read, there was a bit of angst in the form of the side story concerning Whitney's family, but nothing overly heavy or depressing. His Royal Highness was a quintessential five-starred R.S. Grey story. ♥

I would say a 3.5 stars. This definitely my dream Disney job for sure, being able to work at a theme park and enjoy that magic all the time and LIVE IN THE CASTLE sign me up!

But the overall book was good, there wasn't really anything that stood out to me to make this a 4 or 5 star read. It was super cute and kept me entertained the whole time. I think that it was missing a little spark, it seemed like Derek and Whitney didn't have too many issues it was definitely a friends to lovers romance which I can enjoy but you could tell they were never really friends first there was always that little something more.

As much as I liked the ending I felt it was super rushed and then bam, you have the epilogue, I would have enjoyed a little more flushing out of the characters and story before it was a jump to the future.

Also loved all the side characters, they were all a joy to read and didn't make it seem like they were just placed in there for nothing.

I would definitely recommend this book to people who want a light read and if they want a Disney fix without shelling out 100's of dollars!

PS this cover has to be RS Grey and her Husband for sure, it looks just like them!

September 2021 reread:
I remember liking this book a little better the last time I read this. But this time around, I found myself a little annoyed with how much fighting Derek and Whitney did in the beginning of the book. I get that it provided some good banter, but I didn't really understand the emotions behind all their actions (Whitney's especially). Once you reach a little over the halfway point, things did get better, and I enjoyed the story again. And of course, it was definitely full of plenty of funny lines, which is to be expected from RS Grey!
