This is book #11 in the Armand Gamache series, but you can easily read them out of order.

One of the reasons why I love Louise Penny's books so much is because her murder mystery series takes place in my home province of Quebec, in a fictional town called Three Pines, which is near Montreal.

Her stories have a way of drawing you in from the very first page. I love her writing style and how well written her books are. The characters are well rounded and easily lovable and so realistic. You can understand them, their motivations, and their emotions. A Better Man is another incredibly written murder mystery.

This book was so well written, and the major plot twist at the end had me in shock. I never even saw it coming!

I definitely recommend this one! 👌

A beautiful exploration of what makes a person good or evil, wrapped up in another great Gamache mystery.

Definitely my least favorite of the series. The Three Pines characters were crammed into the book in a way that was unsatisfying and didn't seem to fit. I would have liked more of them, or honestly less. Its the first of the series that I felt dragged on and should have been tighter.

This is probably my least favorite Gamache. I haven't seen any other reviews talking about this but
I had a really hard time with Penny's choice to use a doctored video of Gamache shooting down Black children as a way his superiors would try to discredit him. I felt like that wasn't a very responsible choice, because I can see people being like, "well if it was doctored for Gamache, it's probably doctored for other cops too!" I had already been struggling with how I felt about the series and if it was copaganda, and that added another layer for me. I haven't stopped yet, but if Penny continues this trend, I likely will.
