Loved it

I loved to finally read about Colt and Macie. It was a long time coming. I'm so glad we got it.

Another amazing story by Susan Stoker! Macie and Colt are amazing together, they have the sweetest love story. Macie must overcome her issues and let Colt love her while staying safe from a crazy ex. This has all the great elements that are classic to a Susan Stoker love story!

Second chance romance in the sense that they met before when the Hero helped the heroine out with an anxiety attack.
They both hoped for romance but there was a misunderstanding and they lost touch.
Hero totally devoted.
Heroine has some serious issues with anxiety.
Ex drama.
Hero is older.
Dual POV.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating.
Secondary characters drop breadcrumbs for possible future storylines developing through the series and updates of previous characters and couples from previous books from several series.
HEA.
Epilogue.
Typical Susan stoker style.

Susan Stoker never disappoints. Every book she writes is full of emotion and action. This one is certainly no exception.

I was sad when Delta Force Heroes came to an end so getting to catch a little bit more of the guys plus their commander was awesome! I love that this story is about Truck's sister Mercedes (Macie) and Colt. We have seen Colt in all of the previous books in the background commanding the guys. He has an authority that speaks years of service but in this book we get to see the softer side of him. Macie and Colt met in the previous book at Truck and Mary's wedding. They hit it off but there was some miscommunication and they haven't spoken in a while.

This book begins with action! I mean poor Macie with her anxiety has to climb out of her bedroom window then hide. She was smart enough to have practiced jumping from the window to the tree and to take her cell phone where she calls the one person who can help her. Her brother, a Delta Force team member, who happens to be with his entire team and the commander. It is in the moment that Colt realizes Macie is in danger that we see just how much he feels for her after a brief encounter.

Macie has severe anxiety and while that could have been a problem in a relationship Colt doesn't let it come between them. She was such a lovable character. I felt for her with the anxiety she had to deal with but I think she did the best she could. She knew she had issues and we see her come out of her shell. All in all this was a wonderful book and I am so glad that we got to see everyone again.

Loved it!! Just love Susan Stoker's 'verse...

( still weeping tho after that novella... broke me... I hope you know the one I mean... )

13/07/21 I don't know what it is about them... but I almost prefer the tales with the relevant commanders... I think it is, partially, that we sort of know them... that they have been on the periphery of so many stories... that they have earned their very own HEA.

( In case you don't know which novella I meant... 'The Boardwalk' which is included in the 'A Moment in Time' collection... if I ever feel the need for sadness, that is the one that will reduce me to tears without any pause... )

Enjoyable story; very typical SS story, so if you like her style, you will enjoy this. I thought it was an accurate portrayal of anxiety disorders which I really appreciated. Many people in my life don't understand the terror of unknown situations, large groups, etc.

Mercedes “Macie” Laughlin has to get out of her comfort zone. Colton “Colt” Robinson works with Macie’s brother Truck. You can read this book first without feeling as if something is missing. But after you finish, and you find you want to know more about Truck you’ll want to grab a copy of Rescuing Mary.

One thing that impressed me is that Macie isn’t a picture perfect woman. She has issues and Colt doesn’t seem to mind. He is able to see past what she what feels could be a relationship ender. He is willing to put in the time to building something meaningful. That was enough to grab my attention but our author takes it a step further by adding in some suspense. I was so hooked on this story that I got it done in one day.

I have a little bit of catching up to do in the series but just like this book you could consider each book as a standalone. The same can be said for the 1001 Dark Nights series. Our author also did another book in that particular series titled Rescuing Sadie. I’ve loved this author’s work for a while and look forward to finding out about her other characters. It’s also a good way for me to catch up on a book that I may have missed. Trouble is she let me know, when I got to the end of Macie and Colt’s story, that she has a new series out. I think I’ll be busy for the foreseeable future.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
