Her debut novel is not one of my favorites. From the beginning I wasn't sure about it, and I was waiting for some really good twist. Things happened, but I'm not sure I really connected to it. The structure was great, but the only thing it left out was the very end, and that wasn't all that shocking or surprising. This one also didn't revolve around a trial like most of the rest of her novels do. I liked the technique she used, but the story sort of fell flat. It did get to me, though, because I don't like the choice Jane made. It just felt like everyone had his/her life ripped apart. Sad stuff.

Very disappointed in this book. Normally Jodi Picoult books rate at least 4 stars, but I had a hard time giving this one 2 stars. She lost me for good when the 25 year old man in the book was having a sexual relationship with one of the main characters, a 15 year old girl. It made it only worse when the 15 year old was described as being "very mature". She's 15 years old, for goodness sakes! The characters just seemed self-centered and not very interesting. If this were my first experience reading a Picoult novel, I doubt I would read another.

This book jumps about a bit in time and can take a while to get into, but I don't think it's as bad as some reviews make out. Worth a try if you're a Jodi Picoult fan, it's not a classic, but worth a read!

LOVE Jodi Picoult. Love her. In fact she is one of my favorite authors. I was HIGHLY disappointing in this book until reading other reviews. I didn't realize this was her first one and that completely makes sense. It was a hot mess. Lol. Not only having WAY too many view points for my liking but the book didn't go in chronological order and wasn't consistently dated (or dated correctly if I remember right). So each view point you read, you had to guess what point in the timeline it was. It was just...not good.

MY ADVICE: don't even pick this book up to read, ESPECIALLY, if it's your first Jodi Picoult book. Her later work is brilliant and so much better. :)

I love Jodi Picoult! And although this wasn't one of my favorite of hers, but of course I still have to give it to her!

I thought this was terrible, couldn't even read more than a few pages.
