Normally, I have such a hard time with imagining world settings and characters. I’ve always struggled in the past but this book changed all of it for me! It felt like I was inside the world, I was able to see everything so clearly and imagined I was strolling alongside the characters. The plot line left me in suspense, it felt like something new was discovered every chapter! I know I am supposed to love Ash but Robbie, or should I say THE PUCK, stole my heart and won’t let it go!!! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for fantasy and adventure and I will definitely be adding the rest of the series to my tbr

This is the perfect book for those who are just stepping into the world of the Fey. It's not too overwhelming, not too much detail and the characters are quite understandable from the get go. It has it's twists and turns, plot surprises and moral conflicts, but not so much that you need to stop reading to get yourself together again haha...

Ok so it does focus more on the gloomy part of the fey, which is understandable. Without giving any spoilers, I just did find that the book was limited in terms of content. Maybe it's just me, but I do find that the book stuck to one path, and did not elaborate on any details, or growing the world where the character found herself in. I mean, it's a magical realm! You can go crazy with explaining everything (but not too much, mind you...), but Kagawa just focused on the immediate surroundings, which i found a little bit simplistic.

Due to the simplicity of the novel I did find that the characters were one dimensional. Ash was quite predictable in terms of the broody, grumpy, quiet, mysterious guy who instantly turns our protagonists insides to butterflies.

Meagan (can't remember her spelling for the life of me) I liked, sort of. Ok, so she has a sense of humor. She adds a modern perspective on the old ways of the fey which I liked. The fact that she was somewhat useless and just a bystander in fights was a little annoying.

Like I said, this book is perfect for the beginners or those new to they fey. From the perspective of someone who read a few other novels in this area, I did expect a little more. Due to the simplistic descriptions, it felt like the events happened quite fast. Even though it did not actually happen at a rapid pace, I wish we had some more depth and insight in our protagonists thoughts. So even though the author tried to show conflict and character development, I think it would have been more successful if she elaborated on things a little more. This would have helped us create a more intricate image of characters, instead of viewing them somewhat superficial.

But putting all that aside, I love the storyline, it's something different, new and a comfy read. I give it 4 stars because I think someone who would like a 'light' read will definitely appreciate this book and enjoy it.

I like most things about this book, it has a great world within it, and a very interesting story. My favorite character was Puck, I think he should've had more book-time but it's fine.
I'm not entirely convinced with the romance, I felt like it was too rushed and kind of out of nowhere.

It was a quick and easy read. The romance between Ash and Meghan was weird to me though. He wants to kill you but then all of a sudden you guys are so in love. What?!? I feel like it's a pretty satisfying ending. I'm not sure if I want to continue the series though. Maybe I'll try book 2 to see if I do want to continue on. Also I feel like maybe reading A Midsummer's Night Dream would have helped with understanding some characters like Puck and Oberon. I did like Grimalkin. This story gave me a bit of Alice in Wonderland vibes.

Okay on to spoilers.

Meghan starts to see the faerys and realizes that Ethan, her younger brother, has been kidnapped and replaced with a changeling. With the help of Puck, they go to the Nevernever in search of Ethan. There they go to the Seelie court and it is revealed that King Oberon is actually Meghan's father. When the Unseelie court come to visit, a chimera attacks and a metal bug escapes when the chimera is put down. Each side thinks the other set them up, but really there is another dominion out there, The Iron King and his men. In order for Ash of the Unseelie court to help Puck and Meghan find Ethan, Meghan makes a contract where she will go with him to the Unseelie court when Ethan is safe and sound. They manage to kill the Iron King Machina and so they go back to the real world to bring Ethan home and then Ash brings Meghan to the Unseelie court.

I hope Puck didn't die. I guess the Oracle took the memory of Meghan's father from her. That's so sad actually. She no longer remembers him.
