A bit long winded and I nearly abandoned it a few times. By about 3/4 through I finally felt some investment in the characters, and the ending was surprisingly delightful when I realised who the mystery guest actually was.

Very mixed feelings about this book, I wasn’t sure who I was invested in, I didn’t particularly warm to anyone and I think the short chapters and snap changes from one storyline to another were largely to blame for that. I like the idea of the mystery narrator, but the execution of that thread, and the ending of the book was cheesy.
Shame, I usually really enjoy a bit of Marian but this left me unsure of whether or not I enjoyed it.

It's Marian Keyes, so it's pretty much what you'd expect, and is underpinned with the theme of Authority Figures Dismissing the Concerns of Women, which is depressingly relateable. Lost stars for cartoon villainy, especially when contrasted with the well-drawn and resonant depiction of Kate's terrible mother.
