So far, it's a great book. It had a mini-precursor of "What the Night Knows", which was very intriguing.

It's been a long time since I read anything by Koontz. He's one of those authors that I definitely have to be in a certain mood for. Despite the mixed reviews for this, I am really glad I picked this novella up. For such a short story it packed quite a punch. Upon finishing this, I had to dive right into the follow up novel [b:What the Night Knows|7830126|What the Night Knows|Dean Koontz|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1308459193s/7830126.jpg|10890594].

I read this in Jan 2011. I could reread any Dean Koontz book any time.
"Howie wasn't afraid of the darkness. He had learned young that the dangers in bright daylight were worse than anything that might wait in the dark, that the boogeyman could have a kind face and a winning smile."

Excellent short story. Creepy right to the end. Koontz rarely disappoints.

this was an entirely unappropriate book to read on Christmas Day. Probably not much better the rest of the year. A little short a little lacking as far as I'm concerned.
