"You must have a goddamn death wish."
"I thought you said the killer wouldn't target me."
"I'm the one who's going to kill you!"

It might seem strange to say I had fun reading a book about a vigilante serial killer and the homicide detective and bail bondsman who get caught up trying to catch him.. but.. I had fun reading a book about a vigilante serial killer and the homicide detective and bail bondsman who get caught up trying to catch him.

"You know how annoying he can be."
"Oh, yeah, men like him are the worst. Big strong guys who chase down fugitives for a living but still make the time to bring you coffee in the morning? Gross."

This was such a smart cop/procedural drama because we have a clever and almost sympathetic (or at least twistedly reasonable) villain. We have diverse leads (Jewish detective, Italian American bounty hunter) with their own demons to battle (addiction, anger) and an attraction that heats up over the course of the story. I was totally captivated, made to swoon (and fan myself!), and I also found myself laughing along with banter and quips between these two. .. even though the majority of the quotes included are from banter between Levi and his partner, Martine (who I loved!).

"The husband did it."
"No shit, the husband did it. What is this, my first crime scene?"

Getting an ARC of book three is what's kicked my ass into finally getting around to starting this series and I'm so glad I finally did. I feels a binge coming on..

4 "I think the sentiment is genuine / yeah, this freak genuinely wants to kill me" stars

I am so pleasantly surprised by how lovely and complex this book and these characters are. I totally and completely fell head over heels for Levi and Dominic and I truly cannot believe I could have read this gem earlier. Thank you Shelby Eileen for pestering me into starting this book.

Total page-turner for me!

I couldn't get enough of this story. Loved the slow building of the relationship between the two MCs. Dominic is just adorable. Diving straight into the next book, bye!

This book made me dream I was being stalked by a serial killer, so that’s nice.

I am laughing soundly at myself. I chose this book as a “mystery set in Nevada” as I am working on a Nevada reading list for my blog. I did not notice it was a romance - or that it was a MM romance.

So... this is my first ever MM romance (and I don’t gravitate to romances in general). What can I say? I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The mystery was well plotted and I liked the characters. Since this is the first of a series the character development was just starting, but I want to see where it is going.

The romance aspect, well, it was erotica. Serious erotica. That took me by surprise, but if I’d read the descriptions I would have realized. I’ll just say this 60 year old straight woman learned a lot - in a good way. But if explicit sex scenes are not for you, neither is this book.

My one beef? The ending. It tore me up, and now I need to get the next book.

Wow! Have a feeling I'll be using that a lot in this series!
What a fantastic new story.
We have strong characters with many flaws but lovable points about them too. It's interesting reading their interactions, both MC's and with secondary characters. The serial killer case is really interesting a just draws you in right from the start! Nothing is given away and I'm really intrigued to see how it moves forward in book 2.
Highly recommend giving this series and author a try, cannot wait to get the next book!

I kept putting this book off and don't know why. I finally read it and I really enjoyed it. I liked the story, I liked the characters, I liked pretty much everything about it and I wanted to go directly into the next book. Look forward to devouring all these.
