Completed in around 5 hours. It is not a bad read. It is engaging enough but not as good as his previous book. Also felt like the author was trying too hard to set contemporary instances in medieval times and his attempts to provide how a noble society should deal with them were not always impressive. But I do appreciate trying to explain some of the incredulous events in Ramayan as more plausible events. For instance the Lakshman Rekha has been described as a Lakshman Wall, an engineering feat designed to keep enemies at bay. Also author provides good detailed descriptions of events and places which makes the book come to life.

I would be reading the second part of this book too.

An average read. Amish seems to be following the philosophy of "If it is not broken, write more of the same". While the Shiva Trilogy was an interesting fresh take, this series feels like exactly the same. He continues with his obsession for describing Nagas, Vishnus and Mahadevs all over again and dedicates hundreds of paras to describing the angvastram colours of various people.

The masculine Vs feminine theme seemed like a leftover from the previous Meluhan Vs Swadeep theme of the previous books. The sub-plot inspired by Nirbhaya event also seemed quite forced and contrived.

The portrayal of Ram is also very shallow and he becomes annoying after a certain point of time. Lakshman seemed a lot more likeable as compared to him.

While the book might appeal to people who haven't read the earlier books, it is a sore disappointment to the rest of us.

P.S. He needs a better editor who can suggest better words than "Storm Troopers doing battle".
