I don't have much of a handle on what Batman & Co. are up to these days, so I can't comment on how this feels in relation to other new titles, but this was a great story, and an interesting take on Batman's relationship with Two-Face. A lot of time has been spent on the Joker, but I haven't read much about Two-Face other than their original confrontations ages ago, and then in Frank Miller's 'Dark Knight Returns'.

So I'm not exactly current, but even so, I enjoyed the road trip even as it sacrificed story for car-chases and crony-punching. Enough was revealed as the journey played out to keep me interested and the punch of universal revelation of collected data should resonate with most readers. Thinking about how many people would just be super embarrassed as opposed to straight-up murderous is up to their own disbelief-suspension powers. Comics are a lot of fun and some great stuff is clearly going on. I wish I had more time to investigate these developments further.

A decent story but comics are made up of story and art and I just can't stomach Romita's art.

Two-Face has been my favorite Bat-villain since I was a kid and after how they did him in New 52, I was hesitant to read this. But I'm glad I finally picked it up because it was amazing from start to finish, probably one of the most solid comics I've read in recent memory.

John Romita Jr's art was one of the reasons that I picked up this book and it didn't disappoint. I think he does a great job of adding a bit of bulk to Batman's costume as a piece of protective equipment and hiding place for all of those great bat gadgets as well as being believably agile. This story was full of bat-villains and Batman battles through them but, surprisingly for a Scott Snyder story, his drive forward in spite of the odds felt a little too relentless for Batman, without his usual out-thinking the bad guys, and Romita Jr's art worked well with the action. The backup story was not as fun, with Batman beginning the training of a new ally (not sidekick) in Lark, but its introduction of "The Cursed Wheel" of bat-training may be interesting down the road. Collecting: All-Star Batman, Volume 1: My Own Worst Enemy 1-5. I'd rate this book 3.5 stars if Goodreads allowed half stars.

If you're looking for dark visuals and super-serious Batman then you're in the wrong place. This is a massive road trip with Batman taking Two-face to find a 'cure' but thanks to Two-face's intervention everyone (villain, friends, and strangers) is trying to kill Batman and free Two-Face.
The artwork is okay but strange in places. But the colouring is great. Bright and inviting compared to other Batman comics I've read.

Scott Snyder, freed from the tight grip of the traditional batman line-up (of which he spent four years building as DC's flagship title) has given us something even more unique in the rebirthed All-Star Batman.

Two-Face and Batman, on a good ol' road trip together, hunted by the archives and top-dogs of Batman's rogues gallery.
