3.5/5!
It is no secret that I love the Shadowhunter world, it is one of my favourite fictional places. It is also no secret that I LOVE Malec so much, Magnus and Alec were always my two favourite characters in TMI and are just two of my favourite characters from the Shadowhunter series so when this series was announced so many years ago, I was hyped. Unfortunately, I didn’t love this book as much as I thought I would and as much as I truly wanted to!
Don’t get me wrong, reading Red Scrolls Of Magic gave me the same feelings that only Cassie books give me but at the same time, it didn’t really feel like a book from
the Shadowhunter Chronicles and yes I know, it’s about Malec and only Alec is a Shadowhunter so there’s isn’t as much Shadowhunter action as there is in other books but, it just didn’t fill me with the same sense of magic and there’s just this feeling that reading a book from The Shadowhunter world gives me and it just wasn’t as strong with this.
I’m not saying the book was bad by ANY stretch, this book was still amazing. The fight scenes were choreographed so well, Alec and Magnus definitely felt like Alec and Magnus. I think my main issue was that, as much as I do truly love TMI it is my least favourite of the series’ so, if this book had come out whilst those were coming out and I was reading those for the first time, I might feel differently about this book! But with the sophistication of TID and TDA, I just felt like this fell a bit flat.
But, like I said, I did still really enjoy this story and being in this world again! I also loved seeing these characters again and I am looking forward to the rest of the trilogy!!

There were some parts in the book that lost its pacing. It switched scenes rather quickly, but overall my enjoyment of the book was amazing.
Didn't know this series existed until I stumbled upon it at Barnes & Noble. So it was a very pleasant surprise!

I love Alec and Magnus, they have so much depth and they’re funny and they made me feel something. Truly a good book, even though I almost wish it was less plot-focused at times.

I'm liking these stories, but they're all kind of repetitive.

By far in my top 3 favorite love stories!! I haven't read her Mortal Instruments series (I saw several reviews where it just wasn't worth it, at least for the first 3 books).
I started with the Infernal Devices. After reading this book I can tell I'm missing some info, mostly relating to the beginning of Alec and Magnus love story. But this has still been one of my most favorite love stories of all time. They are the absolute most adorable.
Some of the actual plot was a little silly to me, but 5 stars for this one for love story alone. I LOVE to see LGBTQ+ represented and, in my opinion, done very well. This book jumped to my top 10 fave books of all time.
