It took me a bit to reacquaint myself with reading Kerouac. Maybe I’m getting too old, or am too sober these days. It seemed to really find itself by the last third or so, and the ending is fantastic (more specifically, the last two lines).

A beautiful poetic book but the prose bordered on incoherent much throughout and I felt Kerouac's wiring was overindulgent in its style. I found it hard to follow and became easily bored throughout, although I can appreciate why others may think it's a masterpiece.

Challenging but rewarding, this semi stream-of-consciousness prose poem to a doomed love affair is quite warmly written.

Pareciera que Kerouac escribe con la velocidad del las mismas palabras, como si nos contase la historia con un vaso de cerveza en la mao, vacío hace media hora, sin perder jamás consistencia ni estilo.

Didn't enjoy this one as much as 'The Road'. Still, I have to appreciate Kerouac's experimental prose here.

Without mentioning the actual plot, it's worth noting that this book reads like a conversation at a bar: a fast-paced narrative, a lot of over-sharing, anxious explanations of one's daily experiences.

Just a guy speaking his mind. That seems to be Kerouac's style, that of what became the 'beat generation'.

What a great intro into Kerouac's writing style and kind, I havent read anything that gives as raw and unfiltered a look into an author's mind and it was a joy from start to finish.

I did not enjoy this book. I found it hard to digest, the characters unimaginative, and the overall story very lackluster. I really enjoyed Kerouac’s “On the Road” and I thought his inventive storytelling and unique prose would be repeated in this book, but they were not; I instead felt like I was being dragged by my hair across a poorly sanitized bar floor for hours on end while someone recited terrible slam poetry they wrote during a 3 day bender.
