it gets better and better with each book! I am impossibly attracted to this universe. And very happy I don't live in Morganville :D

As I siad in my last review poor Claire can't just catch a freaking break. It keeps piling up, more and more crap for her to deal with. I feel so bad for her. Claire is like Anita Blake's less gun happy younger sister. Having to be best friends with the vampires even through they keep trying to kill her. I can't say I am to pleased with the deal she makes with the founder but, I can see the necessity, some people will go to any length to protect the people they love. Also, would someone just kill Eve's crazy brother already, jeeze, can't be that difficult, he is human (for the moment).

I think the fact that the founder was going to give Claire off as food was also very uncool. I think she made a bad decision that will effect the dynamic between Claire and herself for books to come. I also with Oliver wasn't such a bad guy. I like his character and could totally add him as a fav if it weren't for the whole Micheal thing, of course. I don't know how much longer I will be able to take the action packed, never stopping, pace of this series but I will continue reading until I need a break. Pretty heart wrenching, shocking, and leaves you needing to know what will happen next!

What I Loved: This has been my favorite book of the series so far. There is so much that I loved and it was mostly from a nerd girl POV! List o Love: Claire's smarts are important to the Vamp World. Shane is a tarnished Knight in Shining armor but he is protective in the best ways. Micheal's self control and makes me wonder about his overall role to come. Eve is just wonderful all around with her quick quips and loyalty. Overall--I loved that the foursome grew as a team but still showed that things can happen to make you question even those closest to you!

What I Liked: I really like how RC manages to wrap up some storylines while throwing some new ones in the mix. She manages even to make the "mean" girls show some humanity and yet you still don't like them. Her endings always make you want the next book immediately.

Complaints: None!

Why I gave it a 4: This was a fantastic story of friendship and growth. It was fun, quick, and easy to read.

Who I would recommend it too: This is great for YA PNR readers and I would say PNR readers that liked the Vampire Academy. However, I would say not to start in the middle of the series.

OK. Again with all the negativity. Again with all the drama.

Its not bad this series but I'm not in love again. It gets into it finally in this book and we see more sides to Amelie which is kind of a finally moment for me.
This book is set really close to the others like Claire is still 16 and I wonder if we're going to ever see her grow older. I mean the series is starting to feel a little rushed to me and I'm just wondering whether she is going to be this 16 year old for all 10 books? Or will she make it to 17...?

Claire is more grown up in more parts of this book meaning, she still acts like a 16 year old but also acts older for a lot of this book. Can't say how without spoiling this book entirely but she grows some lady parts and gets down to business. What grates me a little is how Michael accuses her of lieing to them when really that is all they do to her. I mean they all lie. Humans lie to save their skin, the vampires lie for the same reason. Everything feels a little bit like they're going in circles and I'm still no closer to understanding why Claire is so damn special.
I get she is a 'genius' because she is in college already but she can't be that smart if she keeps making mistakes the way she does. I mean once you understand what Amelie is doing it gets sort of clear why Claire is special but not so much. I'm half expecting witches to get involved if I'm honest.

I wish Sam was in this book more, his name is thrown around a few times but we don't get anything more from him since the first part of the book. Which is sorta sad because he is a little bit of happiness where it comes from rays of darkness. Oliver is included in that, I still always guess when or where he is involved, he is the classic vilian of the piece but I kind of get those vibes still from Amelie so she isn't all that good either. Claire has just picked the better of two monsters I'd say...

I started to resent Shane during the last chapters of the book, their relationship feels wrong if you get my drift and I agree with Claire's mother and father that she should back away from him. I don't think he is a bad guy but he certainly isn't good.

Spoiler Oh and her parent's moving to town
Not good, that will cause some drama I am sure of it.
