I'm so glad I wasn't tested, because I kinda rushed through the chapters on trigonometry and calculus chapters. Some of the examples were very interesting, and made me break out the notebook and work out the problem the long way, which is the way I work in best. But towards the end the chapters became shorter and shorter for more complex ideas, turning almost into a brief and boring textbook. I don't regret reading it. Just wasn't much fun towards the end.

A good book, just not as good as my absolute favorite math book. That would be Charles Seife’s “Zero: Biography of a dangerous number”.

Audibook Format: Storgatz's presents multiple goals in this book. The first is to present a holistic account of what mathematics is. The second is to present it in such a way that anyone can understand it. The third is to present math in a way that is beautiful, complex, orderly, chaotic, and applicable to all areas of your life. In my opinion, he does this extremely well and has heightened my interest in learning mathematics. However, while I enjoyed this book a lot, I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have for two reasons. The first is that I don't think audiobook is a good format for reading about STEM-related fields, as the narrator would spell out extremely long and complex equations. Second, while this book is for beginners, I don't have the background knowledge to truly appreciate what Strogatz was getting at, especially in his later chapters on Calculus. That said, this book has pushed me to learn more about math, and I assume that is Strogatz's goal above all others.
