You know how people say you should never meet your idols? Yeah.

Busy Phillips autobiography. I always find these books so addictive. I can't put them down. She lays it all out there in this one, in similar fashion to her social media pages. If you like celebrity book, I would recommend this one. The stories of her childhood got a little long winded. But she wrapped up each with always her point of view and life lesson/impact. Stories included: her family, injuries, Clueless toys, actress in Hollywood, auditions, dating Colin Hands, Freaks and Geeks, Dawson's Creek, Her BFF Michelle and the loss of Heath. Never new she created Blades of Glory movie. Then she ends with stories of her marriage and having children.

I like to read celebrity memoirs from time to time. Most of the times they are boring and have no real narrative but not so with Busy. From her chilhood to her in-depth teenage years (which by the way I could relate a litte and was taken aback how much I could relate - especially the boys and everything that comes with it [wo/ an abortion though - that I never had])
She doesn't hide anything and I am glad about the truth about the actors she described. why not?! If you are mean or anything - well karma is a bitch and maybe they learn a thing or two from such honesty.
I could also relate to the struggle of fresh motherhood. Well I did not have a night nurse but I had my family to help me with a lot. Well it takes a village, right?
Really good, raw, funny and honest.

What’s amazing about Busy and this book is how unapologetically herself she is. I love hearing stories of people who have been on a journey to embracing who they are—because it’s so very relatable. The ending of this one was a true delight and stories within made me gasp as well as laugh. What remained consistent was me cheering her on throughout.

Overall, this was one of the better celebrity memoirs I’ve read. Unfortunately, by the end some of the narcissism that made the beginning of the book interesting started to wear on me. It was hard to read about how much better her life got after she got a full time nanny, phrased like it was a normal part of everyone’s life (including taking them on your family Disney Cruise). It’s also hurt my soul to read all the problems she had with her husband not participating in child care/raising until he started doing Sunday mornings. Once he started parenting on Sunday mornings and her nanny went full time their relationship got better. That whole last third was simply bizarre to me. Does she think that’s standard behavior? She also so candid about she feels about people in her book, but has this weird awkwardness every time she discusses her husband’s friend, Lizzy Caplin. What’s that about?

Cannot think of another book I’d want to start a year with. It’s so lame to say a book speaks to you I know I know BUT THIS ONE JUST DID OK?!

She’s funny and it’s always interesting to learn more about celebrity life. But a couple of cringe worthy moments of entitlement.

Busy Phillips is all of us. She's so relatable and unwaiveringly honest that reading this book is like listening to your best friend tell you secrets.
