Easiest 5 stars i've ever given - add an extra for the illustrations being so perfectly what i imagine of the discworld.

'I think I believe in the secret geometries, and the colours on the edge of light, and the marvellous in everything' - Leonard of Quirm

A wonderful illustrated novella set in the Discworld, as Cohen the Barbarian decides to return what the first hero stole from the gods...with interest.
Which may lead to the end of the world...and that's something the Patrician would like to avoid.
A fantastic adventure, a philosophical musing on aging and justice, jokes about gods and belief - all accompanied by gorgeous paintings you can look at and find new details every time.

Somehow I missed this when I read all of the other discworld novels. It's shorter then I expected. Still nice to see more adventures of Cohen, given that interesting times is one of my favorites. I don't think it's quite as good as that one though

Gorgeously illustrated, and featuring one of my very favorite denizens of the Discworld - Leonard da Quirm. Also, of course, Ponder Stibbons, the new Head of Inadvisably Applied Magic, and our dear friend Rincewind ["Or there will be a whole string of accidents that end up causing the same thing. Trust me, sir. I know how my life works."] We also enjoy the company of Cohen the Barbarian, with some of his heroing colleagues, as they embark on one last heroic mission for the bards to bard of.

All of this, and a touch of Pratchettian applied theology, too!

Read it. Read it again. Read it out loud to the dog, if your cackles haven't already scared the dog off. Don't bother reading it to the cat. He doesn't care.
