Nečakala som prepojenie so Sherlockom Holmesom, ale celé to bolo milé a príjemne fungujúce, aj keď mi vadili také drobnosti, ako neskutočne zjednodušené až symbolické (ne)zapojenie toho antigravitačného materiálu do konštruckie lietajúcich lodí.

Зазвичай всі хвалять історії Алана Мура, і я розумію чому, адже сама зовсім нещодавно прочитала "Вартових". Але у випадку "Ліги видатних джентельменів" я, перш за все, хочу похвалити художника Кевіна О'Ніла. Те, що він робить на сторінках цього графічного роману, — це щось фантастичне. На тлі майже кожного фрейму відбувається не менше цікавих подій, ніж у головній сюжетній лінії, незалежно від того, контактують головні герої з оточенням чи ні. Люди сваряться, крадуть і викрадають, женуться, продають, переносять вантажі і читають газети. Головні герої існують у вирі невгамовного галасливого натовпу — і це крутезно.
Сюжет теж захопливий, і тут є моя улюблена тема — гра з класичними відомими персонажами в декораціях стімпанку чи іншої темнуватої фантастики, але моє серце віддане візуальному втіленню.

My first attempt with comics. A very dark, adult and interesting read about a group of people (literary characters) that work f0r the English Secret Service. Every character is the protagonist of a well-known novel (Dracula and Mr. Hyde etc.).
Very sober drawings using a nice palette of colors.

Spanish: ¡Mi primer intento con el mundo del cómic! En este caso tenemos un equipo de los servicios secretos ingleses muy peculiar (todos son personajes de ficción). Este cómic es para adultos por su cantidad de violencia y contenidos sexuales (explícito o implícito) pero que mantiene muy bien la tension y la intriga.
Los dibujos son muy sobrios con una curiosa manera de dibujar y una preciosa paleta de colores.

i wanted more from this story, because i love the concept so much, but sadly, it's just less than mediocre. i liked mina murray and her scarf a lot, but a lot of the other characters i couldn't stand, and the whole thing came with a side portion of racism and sexism (plus some non-consensual pregnancies everyone just completely skipped over) that i guess tried to be "historically accurate for 1898" but made me want to vomit (as this "argument" always does). for some reason, this edition includes a goosebumps-like story in the end that i had to skip because i was already so tired of the characters. i might still burn through volume two, but i have very low expectations now. and it's sad, it really is. this could have been great.

when it comes to the main conflict, this was weirdly better than vol. 1 in my opinion, but everything else was just so much worse. the gore and violence absolutely does not do it for me. additional minus points for sexual assault galore. again: the concept of this is so good, but the story kept disappointing me personally. skipped the story following the graphic novel part again, bc i couldn't be bothered.
