This story was just okay and I’m disappointed because it had a lot of potential. Like other reviewers said, it started off strong but kind of grew slow and boring by the halfway mark. There were no reveals that I felt were surprising. I liked the premise of letter writing but the romance felt rushed and stilted. The rivals aren’t really rivals. There wasn’t enough world building for me to care about what the clash was between beings and lands. It was just alright.

I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the sequel. I liked the pacing of the story, slow enough to make you fall in love with the characters but fast enough that it didn’t feel stale. The plot had some good twists and turns, however, there were a few things I found a bit too predictable. Iris is also slightly annoying, but really not terrible. Overall, this book has really helped to pull me out of a reading slump.

Almost immediately, I knew this was going to be a 5-star read. Rebecca Ross’s writing style immediately drew me into this world. I loved Iris and Roman. The book was so well-written. I felt like I was there with them. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read the second book and find out what happens.

So good I really liked the perspective and really sweet.
Also the twist at the end with her brother and her still being able to contact Kitt!
My heart.

A painful story of loss threaded with such beautiful moments of joy. Iris and Rowan will charm you into their whirlwind of a story. I’ve best described it as the second act of She Loves Me but there is a war going on. And such a quick but powerful read! I felt like I blinked and 100 pages went by 😅
