Part of me wants to rate this book 4 stars, but I can’t. The humor sold me on this book. When I first started I was sure I wasn’t going to like it. Nothing about it screams beauty and the beast retelling. 100 pages in and the crass humor started and I was hooked. It definitely towed the line of almost too much and too forced but it didn’t annoy me and kept me laughing. I love Hadriel more than anyone in this book! He absolutely makes this book so much better! The story started to pick up about 50-75% in and now I am invested and need to know what’s going to happen!

I initially started reading this and dnf’d at 15%-ish because l just wasn’t vibing.
Then I came back to it and demolished it in a day!!
The world is very confusing…
The prose was very similar to modern day, and there was mentions of ‘running water’ and other modern amenities, which made me a touch confused as to how ‘developed’ the society was. Like was it set in the medieval times that most fantasy novels are? Or was it kind of a dystopian-y world?
I thought far too hard about all that when this book is not that serious haha. It’s funny and weird and I did enjoy it.
Lost the stars due to my confusion around the world building.

I have never "rage read" a book in my life but I finished this in two sittings because I was so mad about everything: the flimsy worldbuilding, the plot that hardly moved forward, the unsatisfying sex scenes, the excessively immature and vulgar writing style, and the stereotypical protagonists.
I wish I had anything good to say about this book, but the only thing stopping me from screaming with frustration and throwing it across the room upon reaching the end was that I bought it on Kindle.

I hated this. so uncomfortable. I don't consider myself a prude but the amount of swearing + cringy insults + even cringier lines (speaking to a non-existent audience, really? also, the horrendous amount of shame-sex talk? really??) I just couldn't do it.
