I had a great time reading this, it was quite emotional but also funny, exciting - and sometimes a little bit cringe. The MC was either very scared, very angry or very horny, not much inbetween. Then again, she is a traumatised teenager so I guess that makes sense. I liked the side characters a lot. There was one instance where I thought the writer was being really racist?? I don't really know what was going on there. There were more plottwists than in the first book, some of them were surprising and some of them I had already anticipated, it was okay.
Adam gave me really strong Gale/Jacob vibes right from the start, if you know what I mean.

4.5! This book was a roller coaster of emotions. The metaphorical language really brought the characters to life. The writing style can take some time getting used to, it's a very unique form of artistic expression and communication but I think that is what sets it apart from other contemporary fiction.

What I’ve concluded this from reading this book: I must have a thing for psychotic guys? Anyway, Warner tugged at my heartstrings throughout this book and I loved his character development.

Juliette is finally becoming a character I’m growing to love. The first book mainly showcased her standing in the sidelines, which though made sense for her character, was starting to get old.

This story is one of mental and physical resistance. What I like about Juliette as a character is she’s never been one to be like “I’m so tough because of what I’ve been through.” What she has experienced in her life is extreme trauma. No one would be able to turn around from that without severe mental health consequences. This story is not her shoving away her trauma, but starting to embrace what happened in the past and not exactly “overcome” it per se, but realize that it’s always going to be a part of her life and she can’t change that, but she can keep moving forward.

I would highly recommend continuing on this series even if you weren’t the biggest fan of the first book, trust me it gets better.

The main character is weak in a way that is tiring to read. Her emotions are harder to feel because of how hard she leans into being the victim whilst also not really acknowledging the reality of how she's been victimised. Paired eith the harsh dismissal of her trauma by another main character, there is no one to champion the very real trauma she has, and the overall effect is that it is trivialised, and instead of her reading as a very real victim, she reads as a whiny child, which is inaccurate to what she's actually faced. Also while I don't normally mind the cliché of picking between the two boys, neither one felt like a convincing desire or attraction, so the plot line felt very forced in and disrupted the readinf experience more than it added to it
