Like all of Tessonja Odette's books, I absolutely ADORED this one!

At first, it was a bit of a slower start for me as sleeping beauty wasn't my favorite story growing up unlike the retelling topics of her previous books. Once I got a few chapters in though I couldn't put it down or stop thinking about it!

I loved the characters and how well rounded they are, and cannot get over Thorne and his passion for baking, everytime he was in the kitchen I just smiled and wanted to reread the chapters. Towards the last 2/3rds of the book I even cried a few times! The topics of familial expectations and the desire to be loved hit close to home, and the way it was expressed in this book really touched me.

I can't wait to see if these two pop up in future books, and I am interested to get to know Monty more in future books as well!

*I did receive this book as an ARC, but that in no way impacts my review. Thank you for the honor of getting to read this lovely story early!

Tessonja never disappoints with her fairy tale retellings. The world that she has built and expanded on throughout the last books have been a pleasure to dive back into every installment. From the world building, to the lore, to the colorful cast of characters we are introduced to every retelling! I do believe A Dream So Wicked is my favorite so far, which is ironic considering sleeping beauty was never my favorite princess! lol. But Briony and Thorne were everything. A true enemies to lovers, who ended up hurting each other all the way from the beginning to the end, but in those lies and betrayal, formed a genuine bond and love, where they were able to overcome their fate as sworn enemies and find love. They were steamy, they were layered, they were morally grey, but it’s what made them so so good. Of course, I absolutely adored Minka and Mr Boris, and as always, the way the sleepy beauty tale was retold in such an original way while also keeping elements of the original story was perfection. I really enjoy Tessonja’s writing style, and I will definitely be delving into her other series in this world as well!

I loved the fantasy twist on this tale and found the book really hard to put down once I got into it. I wouldn't call this a retelling, more of a story playing with some of the themes in Sleeping Beauty - I admit I haven't read the rest of the series though, this might be expected by other readers!
