If 6 stars were an option I would choose that. Wow I will be thinking about this book for a long time.

The book is beautifully written with a strong rapport between nature and humanity. One cannot help but root for the main character, Kya, through all of her trials and tribulations. The reader is kept on the edge of their throughout the second half of the book and is stunned by the end of the story. Somehow, the ending provides closure and more questions, further cementing Kya as an enigma, the Marsh Girl. Where the Crawdads Sing puts a lesser-discussed part of the US on display with a cast of complex, human characters alongside the marsh at it story's core.

I’d give it a 4.5/5. It was a really good story, and I loved how the story just focused on Kya and her loneliness and abandonment and her survival in life. I found the beginning kinda slow, it just seemed like a lot of scene setting and not enough events.
I honestly didn’t think Kya killed Chase, I thought it was either Tate or Chase’s actual wife. I like that her love of nature and the marsh stayed with her and hence how she got away with murder. I also enjoyed that Jodie came back into her life, that way she had one family member who cared about her.
Overall good read!

I am usually several years behind the national sensational best-seller bandwagon and this book is no exception. I finally decided to snag this off my TBR because of a library challenge, and I am so glad I did! This book is SO worth the hype!

Both a page-turning murder mystery who-dun-it and a beautiful coming of age tale of love and prejudice, this book kept me totally enticed from start to finish! It's been a while since I wanted to finish a book as much as I wanted to finish this one. I was shocked, disturbed, moved to tears, and totally wooed by this world and these richly fleshed out characters.

If you haven't yet gotten around to reading this one, here's your sign to stop waiting and pick it up!

Love, love, loved this book from start to finish. I seriously never wanted it to end and would’ve followed those characters through an entire series. The narrator did a great job as well.
