Still enjoyable but feels like a derailment of the main story.

I absolutely love this series! I really like the back and forth between Light and L, with the added twist of Misa. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I did not enjoy this volume as much as Volume 1 & 2. The use of the Death Note went from a moral and global-political dilemma to one related to monetary power and social status, which I did not really care for (because that makes humans predictable, and who likes reading predictable stuff?).
SpoilerI was looking forward to how Light's plan would unfold more than finding out the new/temporary owner of the Death Note.
There was also less tension between Light and L; I'm still unsure about how I feel about this because I want them to develop an actual friendship, but I also want to see who will win this game of chess.
SpoilerIt was interesting to see how Light's character changed with the absence of the Death Note, and how he worked with L. The fact that they were handcuffed all of this Volume cracked me up.
The pace of this volume was a bit slow, and one of the things that kept me going was the humorous interactions between L, Light, and Misa. Hopefully, things will pick up a bit in the next one.

I just enjoy these a lot. Not much to say about them. The only thing I like a bit less that the dialogue is kind of in your face sometimes, but besides that, I love it.
