Very well done thriller. The cast of characters were interesting, diverse, and likable (at least the ones that you wanted to like.) The horror of the crimes were shocking and kept you wanting to find the perpetrator(s???) no spoilers here!! didn’t love the ending, but thoroughly enjoyed the ride.

Enjoyable Read

The subject material was really tough to read but the story itself was solid. Trying to figure who was the murderer was tough indeed.

A cool gothic mystery novel taking place in rural Virginia. Strong True Detective vibes but sometimes this influence is a little too on-the-nose. Some very touching character moments between the protagonist and his father and the novel does a good job of portraying the town and it's inhabitants. I wasn't particularly taken with the protagonist's religious angst as it felt immature at times but the story wraps up nicely and I like what the protagonist does at the very end.

Good book.
