I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It keeps getting better and better! In this second book of the Alpha Underground series we get a little more insight into Fen's past and why she has reservations about being committed to her mate, Hunter, and how she is dealing with being packless.
She hasn't heard from her parents in over a decade. They left her with her pack when she was only 9 years old. So when she receives a letter from her mother telling her that her father has died and requesting she attend the funeral she has some reservations. Hunter convinces her to go but once she catches sight of the mother she thinks hates her, she flees. The next morning she wakes up to find that Hunter is gone and has left her a rental car with the coordinates to where her mother lives. It's time to face her past.
Even before she finds her mother things start going wrong. Someone is stalking her, she needs to find a rogue halfie who has already shifted, and she can't get ahold of Hunter. Then she finds out her mother has been receiving death threats.
There are so many twists and turns in this book you'll be left with whiplash! Not everything is as it seems and I was completely shocked to find out the truth, just as Fen was.
Such a great ending to this book. Can't wait for the next one!

I really loved the first one so I figured I would give this a go. It starts of pretty slow but picks up about half way through. I love the additions of some new characters as well as seeing some old ones. The story is good and sets it up for a third book. I did listen to this on audio. Angel Clark did a good job.

This was a really fun read with a nice balance of character development and action-filled plot. Sometimes the middle book in a trilogy lags a bit, but that's definitely not the case here. Lone Wolf Dawn picks up pretty quickly, and the pace stays fairly relentless. Fen has a lot of problems to solve, as well as a lot of fears and insecurities to overcome. By the end of the book, most of the major plot points have been satisfactorily resolved, while leaving plenty of tempting threads for future stories to follow. I'm really looking forward to the next book so I can find out what happens next!

I'm also really enjoying getting to know the characters in this series. They all have flaws, but most of them are caring people trying to do the right thing. They're the kind of folks I'd enjoy hanging out with.

For me, this was the epitome of a pleasure read. Quick read, no significant editing problems, not too complex, but it kept my interest and left me wanting more without feeling like I'd been cheated of a real ending.

If you like urban fantasy, give this a try. I think Lone Wolf Dawn provides enough context that it could be enjoyed as a stand-alone, but I'd recommend reading the whole series in order starting with Half Wolf so you get the full benefit of watching the characters and relationships develop.

Note that I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Fen is trying to put her life back together after splitting from her pack. Hunter, her mate, also leaves her after they've rescued a group of shifters kind of stuck in their wolf form. She's on a mission to locate her long lost mother, only to run in to one danger after another once she finds her.

I didn't like this one as much as I did the first one, but it was a good story. As strong as Fen is as a character, I thought she came across kind of whiny. Her emotions are put thru the wringer, and I know that's why I came up with this impression. She is a great character that faces lots of trials & tribulations, and she does finally except what all fate has thrown at her. This is an easy 4 stars.
