Bought this at an airport bookstore and immediately was gripped by the world of the brilliant writer. His characters are so well written and so engagingly described. You just want the best for them but also relate to all their fears and hopes.

Upon finishing a short story by Murakami I have to give myself a little shake although I've just been thrown from an unusually vivid dream.

Fascinam-me sempre. Para ler devagar e saborear cada história.

So it turns out an animated adaptation of Murakami’s short stories just came out in theaters, watch the trailer for Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman here. I’m so excited because like, look at this:

So the film is a straight-through story that adapts six different Murakami stories from across three of his collections (including the titular Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman) and is set following the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011. Of the stories being told is this little gem from [b:After the Quake|11299|After the Quake|Haruki Murakami|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388271916l/11299._SY75_.jpg|6179815]:

So yes, I do want to see the frog man fight to save the world.

Thoroughly enjoyed about 20 of the 24 short stories. So many times collections can be unbalanced, but this one is just right.

There's some great stories in this collection, including Tony Takitani. The short story form suits Murakami's surreal and phantasmagoric landscapes well, and though there are some misfires, there's more good stuff in here than bad.
