The story was fascinating, but also very dragging. I think sci-fi is just not my thing. Also, I listened to the audiobook and I didn't like the narrator, that's mostly the reason for my rating. Yes I know it's unfair, and I'm open to read some other stories from him, but because of the narrator, the setting was really off, which is made the story uninteresting.

I liked this story. The pace is not too fast or slow, and though it is a bit hard to believe that someone would remember letters by their exact words for pretty much most of them, I do like the idea. The ending was predictable a little, but only when it became relevant, instead of pages and pages in advance. The ending though was really coo, and thought not completely unexpected, it was set up great.

Chilling! The depiction of the cosmos and Lovecraft's linking it to contemporary scientific discovery was thrilling. The ending in its suspense was sickening and poses a lot of interesting questions about Lovecraft's presentation of the Other. It was very engaging overall; I felt perhaps the pacing wasn't as gripping in the rising action? Still, one of my favourites (though I seem to say this after every Lovecraft short story/ novella I read). His writing has such a distinct atmosphere.

Not as good as The Shadow Over Innsmouth, but is nevertheless a compelling piece to add to the world of Cthulhu and Dagon.
