The pacing is pretty good and the art is dynamic and often beautiful, but if you want a story about norse gods getting existential, read Gaiman's American Gods and if you want a story about why gods are (or are not) important, read Hogfather by Terry Pratchett. Besides the art, which is admittedly impressive, there's nothing in The God Butcher you can't find in either of those books, where it will be rendered with more nuance, presented by rounder characters, and couched in a more relatable world.

This volume sets the stage of the God Butcher arc by introducing this god-slaying terror and laying the ground for the time-jumping conflict involving the various incarnations of Thor. This is a very fun read and definitely feels Thor-worthy as the conflict spans millennia and entire universes, fitting for a character of mythic fame.

I especially love the art style, particularly during the viking era. Seeing Thor in the context he was originally worshipped in provides a solid ground for the character.

This series and it's arc so far have kept me very anxious. I love the villain, I love the glimpses into the futurepast. Everything about it was thoroughly Thor.

Well, that was interesting!

It got me hooked from the start, even though I usually despise plots based heavily on time travel and all that jazz. I found it a little bit confusing at times, though (like I said before: time travel), but it's been an amazing read nonetheless. Besides, Ribic's art on this volume was incredibly gorgeous as always.

SpoilerThere's a particular quote I found very interesting and really got me thinking. It was something along the lines of "Mortals' childlike fear of a godless world is far stronger than their fear of death".

I'm giving it four stars for now, let's see how the next issues turn out!

There was a lot going on here, and I don’t particularly care for Thor. Was reading it because it’s my manager’s favorite comic. It was good?

This was my first Marvel comic and I really enjoyed it. The difference between Thor in the comics and in the movies is incredible.

I didn't get to see the fourth Thor movie, but you can see why nobody liked it. You don't even have to watch it to know that the HQ is a thousand times better. 3 Thors from 3 timelines, Gorr being a great villain, and a lot of violence. Looking forward to the end of this story.
