4 stars- An incredibly well-done fantasy debut!
I pretty much had zero expectations when it came to this book. I had never heard of it and just happened to come across it while meandering through books a million. The premise sounded intriguing enough and it had a pretty cover so I decided to grab it

5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I literally knew this was going to be good from the dedication and the first page. This book felt like a breath of fresh air and such a relief. Fantasy has always been my favorite genre for as long as I can remember though I do enjoy branching out from time to time. When I find a good fantasy book that’s well done and captivating it feels like coming home.
All in all I genuinely had a great time reading this book. There was never a dull moment and I was reading this in every spare second I got! I’m really excited to get into book 2!
Some highlights:
✅ magic, fae, elves
✅ fantasy adventure
✅ enemies to lovers
✅ morally gray
✅ one bed trope
Quotes:
“My body is made of scars, some were done to me, but most I did to myself.”
“For Shadows don’t truly exist in the dark. It was time for me to bring the night.”
“You’re not here.” The words clanged against the dark pit inside me. “I have no one.” “You promised,” she said, taking a step back. “You have more than your ghosts, Keera.”
“The weight you bear is not your punishment, Keera. It is your heart. One day it will stop bleeding.”
“A broken blade can be mended.”
“I just hoped if they saw me as a monster, they saw me as a necessary one.”
“He saw the scars. He knew the meaning behind them. And still he found beauty in the darkness of it, in my light and my shadows.”
***Trigger warnings for a lot of mention / themes of self harm throughout, addiction/alcoholism, loss/death/grief ***
I loved this book!! I’m so happy I actually got to meet this author in person, I wish I had read this before meeting

Good plot and characters but when he showed up and kissed her I just couldn’t finish the rest.
