I wasn't expecting this one to be so beautiful, it was a real pleasure to read.

This one could easily be a good one if it wasn’t for a weak ending. At first, it becomes really creepy, then we feel the nice catharsis but the story continues for some reason. I love Lovecraft, but I don’t get why he focuses on the house and not on the ghastly finale of the main character at the end of the book.

2.5* rounded up to three.

The idea of a mysterious, haunted or eerie house sat on top of a hill brushing the sky really intrigued me. The journey, the expectation and the potential was huge as I read the first three pages with anticipation.

Then it ended and I was disappointed as the story should've drew me in. Being honest though, it's probably due to my inexperience with gods, folklore and so on.

This story fell really flat, was boring, at times unclear and I could barely get to the end of it. There's no reason not to skip this one in my opinion.

I don't remember much about this story because it was quite forgettable. There were a few references to his other early works like The Other Gods and Polaris, which I thought was pretty cool, but as I finished an oppressive storm came with much ferocity ⛈

Perhaps I had incurred the wrath of the gods by reading it. 💭
