I'm crying happy and sad tears after finishing this.
Damn, Turner really puts us through the wringer in this. It's the last book in this series, or at least last full length novel, and Turner does not pull any punches.
She gives us the happy times, the sexy times, the tense times, the utterly heartbreaking times, and the action packed times. She gives us it all.
This continues a few months after Sean and Alexei's short story, [b:Out of the Ashes|38487708|Out of the Ashes (Metahuman Files Classified, #1)|Hailey Turner|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1518394654s/38487708.jpg|59903259] left off, and for this we go back to alternating POV's of Jamie, Kyle, Sean and Alexei. And this story is one where all our fave characters go through the ringer, but while [b:In the Blood|37551376|In the Blood (Metahuman Files, #4)|Hailey Turner|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1513460001s/37551376.jpg|58468247] put Alexei and Sean through the wringer the most, Jamie and Kyle go through the wringer in this one.
Not to worry though, it does work out, because I don't know what I'd do if I didn't get my happy for now's and happy endings. I'd freak. But that doesn't make the lead up to the HEA easy in the least.
Stanislav is planning to put his master plan to fruition in this book, and it all comes to one crazy, wild head that I did NOT see coming and you guys won't see coming. It's crazy, it's tear inducing, maybe even rage inducing, but it is WORTH it, SO worth it.
Because this was the culmination of the story for the past 4 books and lingering questions and storylines I've been wondering how Turner would fix or close up is answered in this book, and how Alpha Team and our two couples make it through and how they get to that ultimate happy ending.
Since Sean and Alexei already went through hell and made it through to the other side, they're mostly good in this, in a solid, happy place and I LOVED their scenes together. They're so perfect for each other.
Jamie and Kyle were of course solid and happy too, they just had shit happen to them that was nOT FAIR. But again, it all works out.
Also, yES, what Simone was talking about in her review and her first update about a "special guest" is nothing to worry about, it was actually SUPER hot. Like DAMn, Jamie and Kyle are always SO hot in their sex scenes together. DAMN. You guys will love it, no doubt. I know I did. Whew *fansself*
This book was just...YES. SO GOOD. It had all the action and adventure of the all the previous books that I have loved so much, it had the romance that I adore, the sex that is always smoKING hot with this author, especially between Jamie and Kyle, and while you'll probably sob (as I totally did!) at one point, we come to a satisfactory conclusion that will make you giddy. Or well, at least happy. It made me incredibly happy - and also sad that we're done with this wonderful, amazing series.
Hopefully we either get short stories of
Spoiler
Jamie and Kyle's and Sean and Alexei's weddings! But just know that this was superb, amazing, and definitely worth your time and energy to read. Two massive thumbs up from me. BEAUTIFUL ending <3

I don't think I can add anything to the reviews previously written.
Hailey Turner's mind is a thing of beauty.
This book was BRUTAL. I cried so much towards the end because #reasons.
I mean I knew it was gonna work out and it had an HEA, but the road to that HEA was slippery.
- Jamie... you broke my heart with your pain.
- Kyle... your strength astounds me.
- Alexei... just continue being you because you're the best. You're probably my favorite.
- Sean...you're a pillar of strength and I love you for it.
- Katie... YOU KICKED A$$. I love how Hailey writes powerful women in her series .
- Liam...You rock and I can't wait to read your book.
And the audio... *chef's kiss* from Mr . Greg Boudreaux. Total eargasm.

Ooof.....this book broke me.
Originally the final book in the series, the installment is almost non-stop action. From about the 40% mark, it was go, go, go all the way to the end. It absolutely kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what would happen next. And, emotionally? It destroyed me. Like, sobbing, tears running down my face, ugly crying in my living room.
Despite the obvious emotional damage inflicted on me, this was a fantastic way to close out the original series. Even with all the action, the author still managed to give us plenty of facetime with our favorite characters. She did a great job balancing all the really emotional heavy stuff with funny and sweet moments (Alexei's snark will never not make me smile). And, of course, the steam level is still super high.
While I'm super excited that I still have two novellas and a novel left to read and more time to spend in this world, if those things didn't exist this would have been wonderful ending to the story.

So this was going pretty well for a change but then we get another Not original and the part I really dislike about these. Very irritating as since my GR friends told alerted me that the overarch wraps up. I was looking at a maybe 5 starts after the good last bill but... After that scene, I kind of lost connection as really? and then predictable. **sigh** it was 1/2 really going as a 4 or 5 but, it was just good. After the last one, I am happy with it and the ending.

capture. Really every book we have to have this?Spoiler
none of their them dies in any of these shoot them up captures and even tortures. But here she has Jamie shoot Kyle and his is clinically dead. I'm wondering, eye roll, eye roll, as when he is going to miraculously revive. They go to a funeral and we are not told whose, nice ploy and would have made it a 2 star really if he revived while being buried but no, it is someone elses. OK, so then after a week the inevitable happens, and Kyle wakes and Jamie and Alexi are over joyed.shile87's review against another edition

Memories Left By the Wayside
Infinity stars for this series
I can’t believe it is over. What an amazing ride.
In the Requiem is the amazing book finale in the Metahuman Files series. The year is 2086, global warming happened, and we have Metahumans as a result of a chemical bomb called Splice. The series follows the MDF Alpha team, led by Captain Jamie Callahan, as they fight crime and try to juggle their personal relationships. The MDF team consist of Metahumans with different powers. This one picks up right after the events of book 4 and finally we get the much-needed closure on the case that has been haunting the Alpha Team.
I Love! Love this series, it is X-men + Avengers on steroids. The author did an amazing job here. The writing is consistent, and I have not been disappointed so far. The action and suspense was so on point. And when the author decided to be mean, I was so much heartbroken and angry at the way she did it. Mean Hailey! Mean! I was warned, but reading finally did it for me. Thanks to Simone and her voodoo doll, after some stabbing I was able to continue reading.
The Characters are so lovable and you can’t help but root for them. They are also flawed, and real. What I love most about Hailey’s writing is there is no unnecessary Miscommunication, when they disagree they talk it out, like the way it should be.
This book, like book four, follows Jamie and Kyle, Alexei and Sean’s. The author does shine here. The balance between these two relationships and how they are portrayed is so different and interesting to read.
Jamie and Kyle are the hot couple they have some sort of D/S relationship in the bedroom. It was magnificent, the way Kyle submits to Jamie…

Series: Metahuman Files #5
Rating: 5 stars - I loved it!
Well this book took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride!
Jamie Callahan and his family's reputation is continuing to take hits after the events in the previous book. While everything is falling apart the team knows that another attack by the terrorists is bound to happen soon. This was an action packed book from the very beginning. The team is dealing with Congress investigating them, tracking terrorists, and keeping each other safe.
Like the previous book, this one jumps between Jamie and Kyle and Sean and Alexei. Jamie and Kyle are still hiding their relationship and you can see the strain it has had on both of them. Their relationship is put to the test in this one. Jamie had to make a terrible decision in this one and it was a very emotional time for a little bit.
Sean and Alexei are finally healing from the trauma of their torture. We see their relationship is almost back to where it was in the beginning. They continue to work well as a team. He has become a valuable member of the team. I loved seeing these two work together and become a stronger couple.
This book is a turning point for the war against the terrorist. They make a huge play and Alpha Team steps up to stop them. It was action packed, emotional, and the fallout will last a long time. Overall this was a very emotional book for both couples. I am very interested in seeing what will happen next with the team and the mission.
Trigger Warnings: grief, violence

I CRIED. What an emotional, action-packed ride this book was... I know there are three more books for me to get through, but this book is, in many ways, the end of the main storyline and ugh, I'm both very satisfied with how it ended and devastated.
This book is heart-stopping action from star to finish: I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. There was also romance and steam, heartache and angst, a found family and a camaraderie between all the main characters that utterly undid me. I enjoyed the hell out of this book, and although Sean and Alexei will always remain my absolute favourites, I really loved Jamie and Kyle in this one, individually and together. You could literally feel how much their relationship was of the soulmate kind, how much love they had for each other, and I spent a whole chapter (okay, more like three) literally sobbing my eyes out: if you've read the book, you know which bits I'm referring to. Alexei and Sean were fantastic as usual and I was so happy seeing them finally in a good place, after all the horrific stuff they've been through. The other Alpha Team members were equally wonderful and I loved them all to absolute bits.
I'm very, very curious to read the next book now: I've always been curious about Trevor, so hopefully his story won't disappoint!

Pacing still just as good as the previous books. Lovely rounded off ending (even if she then did decide to write more(!)).
