<strong>blown away</strong>

This fantasy romance book has it all. The way this gripped me from page on to learn more of the amazing characters we got to meet in book 1. Hera by far is one of my favorites.

Bigger emphasis on characters

Unlike the first book in the series, this one is more character driven. The things that ultimately end up moving the plot forward are in the small details. This one is also very theatrical. There are outlandish dramatic moments. The pace of this one is also like a river that has carved its way through the mountains. There are slow moments where everything is crystal clear, and moments where the water is rushing so fast, you have to hold on, because there major twists. The first 40 to 50٪ it feels like we are leaping from big situation to big situation without much of a breather. It does flow a bit smoother and even with all that happens, it's fairly clear had you paid attention to the beginning.
Over all, I am excited for book 3.

This was my most anticipated read for 2023 and it was amazing! There were times when my jaw literally dropped and I thought OMG @isabelleolmobooks HOW COULD YOU!  Family secrets, lies, spies, battles, and the BETRAYAL! My heart 💔😨😭 The plot twists were so well done that I didn’t see them coming! Hira’s character development throughout was phenomenal! Not only do we get strong, courageous and resilient women in Hira, Almira and Captain Sanaa. We also get a viciously cruel, ambitious, conniving female villain in Furia. She’s the kind of villain you love to hate! Then we have the spicy romance that accompanies the story. Queen Almira and her devoted husband King Alton are still madly in love and we are introduced to the morally grey, swoon worthy Commander Justan. It was captivating to read and the ending left me wanting more! It foreshadowed what’s to come in the next book and I can’t wait to read it! Loved it!  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I don’t like posting spoilers or writing summaries as I believe folks should discover a book for themselves. Here’s what I’ll say about Lady of Istok. The narrative is beautifully crafted and powerful. Action is well balanced with character development and as a reader you become invested in each character you meet. I love the growth each one has and the twists to the plot and each characters story arc the further into the book you get. If you love fantasy, romance, and adventure, this should be on your TBR. Can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out!
