However, the charm started to wear off around the time she started her new prep school. As much as I liked Avery, her thoughts started to get quite repetitive. E.g. the fact that Libby would never hurt her. The quote from Nash. Emily. It may have been to remind the reader of how everything links together, but it made the story a bit boring at times. In contrast, I was constantly thinking about it when I started it.Even though I liked the Hawthorne brothers, I didn't feel a strong affinity with any of the characters in the book. Everyone is nice enough but I wasn't obsessed with anyone. Furthermore, everyone is majorly traumatised in some way and could do some help. Avery seemed alright at first but I think she's headed the same way.

"The Inheritance Games" follows Avery Grambs, the seemingly luckiest girl in the world. Avery has had a difficult life, but she is determined to keep her head down, work hard, and make it out of her town to make something of herself. Her whole life gets uprooted when she discovers that she has become the heir to Tobias Hawthorne's entire massive fortune. But Avery has no idea who Tobias is or why he left her his fortune. With a whole slew of Hawthornes who feel slighted at being cut out of the will, Avery has made some enemies. Can she uncover why she was left the fortune?
This was a really fast-paced and fun read. I loved the lighthearted mystery and all of the riddles presented throughout the book. It felt like the reader could play along with Avery to try and uncover what is really going on at the Hawthorne estate.
I really enjoy Avery as a character. She is so smart and independent. She may not be a Hawthorne, but she really fits into this world. I also love that she stays down to earth. Alot of teenagers who get massive wealth may find themselves unable to responsibly handle all of this money and power, but Avery stays true to who she is an does not seem to let the money change her.
I am hooked, and I cannot wait to continue this story and figure out what is going on.
