Layla is a baker at the cutest Christmas Tree farm in a small town who is tired of disappointing dates with terrible men. Enter golden retriever man Caleb who had to stop buying custom cakes from her bakery just to see her because he was eating too much cake. Is there ever too much cake but also how adorable is that? The sweetest book in the series, Mixed Signals delivers as a cozy but hot romance novel. I felt my heart burst at the end from how cute it was. If I wasn't a baker myself I might not have rated it as high because it took me a bit to fet into it, but it had fake dating, great chemistry, big family to the rescue, and refreshingly honest and open communication. Such a treat.
"Why are you settling for crumbs when you deserve the whole damn cake?"

I love Layla’s story!! Caleb is perfection! B.K. Borison really knows how to write dream men! The complexity of the two main characters was something so sweet, and to say I cried during the third act break up is a total under statement! This was a perfect book! I can’t wait to learn more about Charlie!

Reading this book was like sinking into a warm bath.
The writing is so sumptuous and inviting and I loved both the characters of Layla and Caleb. It was refreshing to have a hero who was a bit less sure of himself but still VERY into the heroine.
I will say that the set-up/premise felt flimsy and vaguely confusing (I didn’t really get what they were expecting to happen) but that aside it was a great book. I’m not sure if I could call it steamy because it’s a very slow burn and there’s really only one love scene, BUT that love scene is possibly one of the longest chapters I’ve read in a romance novel and it is *thorough*. So I guess when it’s burns, it burns hot!
Love this author, will deffo be reading anything she releases in the future.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for giving me the opportunity to listen to Mixed Signals by BK Borison. My first book by her and I have to say that sadly, I did not connect with any of the main characters, don't get me wrong, maybe it was because I have not read the first 2 books, but this story got me confused and felt lost during some chapters. I couldn't finish it because I didn't feel the story or characters. I gave this 3 stars because maybe it is me who didn't connect or felt the story, but Caleb came up with the social experiment thing with Layla to "fake dating" I don't think they fake date at all because no one actually knew. TONS of miscommunication and I honestly don't like that. Caleb and Layla were annoying depending on the situation. The narration was good, but there was some dialog that I DISLIKE and felt cringe, and it also gave me goosebumps because of how cringe it was.
