I think I misunderstood the genre of this book I thought it would be horror. My bad! It was still enjoyable even though I wasn’t shaking in my boots while reading. There were some boring bits but it quickly picked back up again.

I know this a not-so popular Tremblay book, but I really liked it.  Any kind of story where I can see myself as the characters themselves is a plus for me.
I could absolutely imagine myself in Rams' position as a friend.  I could see myself as Nats being obnoxious and trying to hold her sh*t together knowing she's (and maybe her unborn child) going to die.  I've read a bunch of reviews and I'm not sure why people hate this one.  The characters represented an friendship going through an impossible hardship. I think I would've been pissed if the baby died though.  I would've definitely hated this book.

I’m not a big fan of stories that take place within a couple hours/one day. I was hoping this book would have the insane endings that I love with Paul Tremblay’s books. I would still recommend this if you like books following the early days of an apocalypse, and if you like the idea that this book takes place only over a couple hours.

Eh. This was okay, I guess. It's a "zombie" book, except not really, because it's a rabies epidemic that just kind of makes people infected/aggressive. And really the book is more about the characters and their story, the rabies epidemic is just the plot that drives it. It was fine for me, but not great, maybe because I was looking for more apocalyptic-drama and this was just... very similar to the current pandemic which is exhausting for me, mentally.

It wasn't bad at all though.
