Stayed up till 6am without even realizing it to finish this one. I just desperately wanted to how how they would get to the HEA. It was obvious from the beginning of course but seeing Janus and Kerry’s relationship evolve and then learning to trust each other and work as a team was so cute. A perfect “I just wanna read MPREG omegaverse smut, oh wait there’s actually good world building and an interesting narrative about reproductive rights in between sex scenes, huh!” Kind of vibe.

I definitely enjoyed Kerry and Janus' story. It was good looking at Janus changing and understanding his wrongdoings. To find out that his Erosgape is that hideous and hateful alpha's omega, was a surprise.
I loved the setting, and how it helped our characters heal.
The presence of previous books' characters was a nice plus to the story, especially amazing Caleb.
As always reading about couples with kids makes my day.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 5 stars out of 5

Oh man, the other books in this series have been emotional but this one is even more so. Kerry has had to endure so much and continues to suffer at the hands of his alpha’s parents even while the vile man is in jail. Janus is trying to make up for his mistakes and really he seems to have completely turned over a new leaf since I saw him in the last book.

I hate the society that these men have to live in but this author has done such a wonderful job of creating this world and all that it entails. Kerry was wooed by a bad man and due to the rules of this society he is essentially owned by his alpha’s family even if they don’t care about his wellbeing more about what they want. And let me tell you his in laws are horrible with how they force him to be beaten during his heats (and plenty before that) since they won’t allow him to not spend them with their son, all for the chance at a grandchild.

I was glad to see Kerry find solace in going home to his pater but even happier when him and Janus finally realize what they are to each other after the baby is born. Janus is making great strides towards being a good man and his move to the mountains does so much more to help. I loved how caring he was with Kerry even when he didn’t agree with his decisions. I could see the pull these two had for each other from their first encounter and how it confused them but it wasn’t clear as to why they were so drawn to each other until the baby came. I really liked the little time jumps at the end that helped to show how Kerry and Janus’s relationship grew.

The cover art by Dar Albert is very nice once again, though the models don’t quite seem to match the descriptions to me.

The main pull to this story for me was the desire to figure out how Kerry and Janus would be together with so much in their way. This was enough to keep my interest when the pacing seemed slow at points. Throughout the story Leta explores some differences in class culture and political power. I'm happy with the way the story ended, and I and I wish we'd gotten to see more of one particular platform that ended up being entirely moot by the end of the story.

This book was equally heartbreaking and hopeful. Kerry was such a sweetheart who didn't deserve the hell that he has been through. Jannis deserved his second chance at love after a life of redemption. They were perfect for each other and this story of second chances really had a deeper thread of equal rights and the right to chose, something we're still fighting with today.
