The supposed principles sound plausible in North American culture, but I am unsure they can be universally applied across cultures. Secondly, references to the North American Christian book make the messages sound like an appeal to proselyte readers into this Protestant sect's belief system. As an educator who has years of teaching philosophy to college students, I don't endorse my students to adopt only one viewpoint to a social phenomenon such as relationship. How do we know that these supposed ideas actually work? Referring them back to the manual of a particular religion is not following a scientific inquiry method. I am curious what people of other faith think about the messages in this book, so please share your impressions.

I had read the original 5 love languages while still married, and I had this one to see if there was any new insights for being back in the dating world. There wasn’t. There was the same info I had before. The reason it received a 4 star instead of a 2 star though is because it had a lot of great insight on how to interact with others in your life, such as parents and co-workers that I found extremely helpful and applicable. The premise is the same for love languages across the board, but the practical application in day to day life I found very valuable.

While I reject the idea that only people who aren't married want to improve their relationships with their family, friends, and coworkers, I did appreciate the practical tips on how to discover and develop the ability to speak the different love languages.

Presented love languages are common sense. They seems so obvious after reading it but are easy to forget in a everyday life. This book serves as a wake-up call and a good reminder.

Too much focus on Christianity for my taste, and probably too long. Was relieved when I finally finished it.

took the test earlier and just kinda read thru this fast, had some nice ideas in there, there is some merit to different styles of affection tho its hardly proven that there's just 5 groups etc etc

lots of weird christian throwins about like god and whatnot that were outta place imo

lots of generic chapters that youd find in any book about social stuff, tho it is interestin to see applications of this into friendships and family, which is a nice touch

not a super insightful read for me imo, ended up skipping through some later chapters that were filled with 'point-proving examples'

Not only does this book not bring anything new to the table, it is also quite toxic. It pretty much tells you that your life is not full and enjoyable enough unless you are married. It shames sex before marriage. And by far the most toxic part is that it blames victims of domestic violence and sexual assaults for not being strong enough to stop it and encourages them to go into therapy to gain said strength. If you are a victim, it is not your fault! It never is.

Adaora recommended it; I'm learning something on every single page (in spite of him and his writing being from a totally different religious background than me). Singletons and couplers alike would enjoy this fresh take on alllll kinds of life relationships.
