Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala respond to an apparently deadly accident on an Italian island that has killed thousands. It soon turns out to be more than an accident. As they try to hunt down the cause, they soon run into a group that are trying to keep the truth secret which soon leads them to an Egyptian company that is up to secret activities hidden behind their legal front.

This was an average read as NUMA appears to have moved into the world military special operations. There are already organizations in place to deal with this but Kurt and Joe seem to think they are the only ones that can save the world. There involvement is a bit beyond reality.

I'm a huge fan of Clive Cussler. The fast paced action, different locations, interesting story lines. However, I felt like this book was just churned out to meet a publishing requirement. It's a real shame. Hopefully Clive Cussler's other recent books aren't like this.

I have GOT to stop doing this to myself... I love Clive Cussler but I stopped reading him for a reason. Every book is the same, with the beautiful woman and the dashing men and the mystery solved by defeating the bad guys... I got to the last bit of the book and was bored. I already knew the ending! :( Soon there will be a shocking Cussler that will renew my love and joy for his books, but this was not it. :(

Cookie cutter Cussler. The same old and tired formula. Occasionally, one will differ from the mold or at the very least be entertaining enough story that you ignore predictability. This isn't one of those stories. I stopped reading the Fargo series and the Issac Bell series. Sadly I may need to add Kurt Austin to that list.

another fun book from Clive Cussler about Kurt Austin and his best Friend Joe Z as they traipse around North Africa trying to stop another madman.
