A delicious women’s tale that is both modern and one of all time. Loved it.

I’m going to guess most of the low reviews came from men. I’ve certainly experienced a lot of the harassment and sexism and outright inhumane behavior toward me for being a woman - in the workplace and on the streets. This is the same story told in a legal firm that practically every woman I know has had some similar and disgusting experience of her own, and that includes the millions of Abigails in the world too. Men and parents, please listen up!

Lastly, we, the more and most vulnerable., should never be discounted or underrated!

This is strongly reminiscent of "All Her Little Secrets" by Wanda M Morris.  This well-plotted and enormously feminist novel manages to convey small and large aspects of sexism, misogyny and abuse in the workplace. What resonated most strongly with me where the parts about motherhood, balancing/work life as a mother and the discrimination that mother's face (and that father's don't face) in the workplace.

It's not realistic that this would all resolve so completely positively for the women involved (or that the "bad" women and men would get their comeuppance).  The lack of any substantial representation of, or discussion about, women of color (or the LGBTQIA+ community) truly limits this book.  Because this is only about extremely high earning, bougie white women the novel lacks a certain amount of reality, depth and complexity -  it doesn't really depict the real world for many today.

Not a particularly intersectional approach to sexual harassment in the workplace, since despite clear dedication to highlighting the double standard for professional women, the focus remains largely on those white and well-off for a large portion of the book. Rather than a nuanced reckoning against the system, it reads like a one-note introduction to feminist theory (for example, one protagonist repeatedly idolatrizes Tina Fey). Although the female characters are not meant or needed to be likable in order to root for them in this situation, it feels difficult for the reader to give the book a pass solely based on supporting women.

I really liked this book. Took place in a law firm and was written by a woman lawyer with experiences similar to the ones depicted in the book, so it was super authentic and true to the current issues surrounding reporting sexual assault and power differences. Kinda hurt how true it was, and how we saw this verbatim in the #metoo movement. A little slower paced than most thrillers, but a great read. It really picks up a little over halfway.

Not your average thriller: an important story of secrets, mystery and courage, told in gripping way. Amazing.
