I don’t usually endulge in comics however, I do like delving into the world of DC villains from time to time.

The art is amazing and so is the hardback cover.

This is an interesting alternate universe and portrays Harley as human - a single mother with post-partum depression, retired from her villain life. It was an enjoyable read, even though the mystery/detective aspect of the story was very basic and simple. I guess that was done to highlight Harley’s complexity a lot more.

I also love the Batman x Harley trope. Very cute.

I didn’t realise that this book was a part of a series. I thought it was a single story so a few backstories and context was missing. Nothing too impactful on the reader’s experience as you can still enjoy it as a stand-alone comic.

Set in the White Knight Gotham City, this book largely deals with this versions Harley and Joker origin story/relationship. I suppose the most notable distinction was this version has Harley already in a relationship with pre-Joker Jack Napier with her being more damage control than moon-eyed mind-snapped obsequiousness. I'd picked it up since I thought Harley was the best part of White Knight and found the story interesting enough despite not liking the setting.

How amazing is it to have a Harley Quinn story that doesn't have her playing a weak second fiddle to a man? Sure, the villain was a little weak and a follow-up to the classic Batman vs. Joker story that doesn't center either character is tough to pull off, but this does it so well! I'm excited to read whatever is next in the Murphyverse.
