These beautifully written poems express pain, girlhood, womanhood, and strength.

A collection of poems that made me cry, ponder, laugh, and sigh in amazement at the way this author has captured deep emotion. I hope to discover more works of art from this author, they are phenomenal.

OOF. This was good. I was handed this by a friend based on the fact that Shire collaborated with Beyoncé, and based on her work prominently featured on the Lemonade visual album, I was already a fan. Many of these poems were an absolute gut punch, heart-wrenchingly beautiful. As I am not the target audience for this text, some of the poems didn’t resonate as intensely with me, but that is not to say they weren’t still great.
